A UNIQUE HAND-PAINTED TABLE CLOCK | RANGRAGE

WHEN PIYUSH CREATED A DESIGN CONCEPT IN HIS ART! A UNIQUE HAND-PAINTED TABLE CLOCK

Rang Rage – known among the artists as a fun work place – decided to give a slight makeover to this image. From April onwards Rang Rage became an arena for competitive performance too. The atmosphere at Rang Rage these days is abuzz with excited discussions and a lot of gossip as to who would win next. It’s a design competition that has stole everyone’s sleep around here.

When you enter Rang Rage workshop, the artists look more excited than usual. They are not found only busy in painting these days. They are now spotted discussing and studying at length the various design angles of what they have painted. The ongoing design competition has given birth to some intellectual discussions about designs practised worldwide or which design may be a better idea to paint a certain figure and so on.

This has happened because Rang Rage artist Piyush challenged the whole army of artists by winning the design competition for two consecutive times. As per the competition, the winner gets Rs 1,000/- as a reward prize while his design is incorporated in all of Rang Rage products.

In the first month, Piyush acted pretty seriously on the given theme ‘Hindi Akshar’ where artists had to come up with interesting designs made around Hindi alphabets. He painted Hindi Akshar in an extremely detailed and creative way. Towards the end of the month, it became clear that only he would win the competition.

The above picture shows Hindi Akshar designed by Piyush.

However, since Piyush already had developed a flair for design, he couldn’t keep his creative horses on hold for a longer time. And so the next month, he nailed another challenging theme ‘Water’. When it comes to water, one’s imagination gets limited with blue, white or aqua blue colours of oceans etc. Piyush, on the other hand, thought completely out of the box and created a white sea-shell and gave it a blue aura around it. The white sea-shell became brighter with a slight floral design and brown border and looked like floating beneath the ocean. In another design, he painted a reflection of sea-shell on the water and tried to give a two-dimensional effect on the design.

This impressed our judges so much that they had to give the award away once again to Piyush. Rang Rage Founders Neeti and Gagan Jain felt that Piyush went beyond the painting part and thought ahead in terms of the design angle. He made ‘water’ a complete concept by the two designs and they had to recognise his efforts.

Piyush became one great benchmark for thinking design at Rang Rage. That’s precisely the objective of the design competition. Rang Rage founders have a vision of stretching the artists’ imagination by incorporating design in their thinking. And this aim was successfully achieved in the first two competitions when Piyush demonstrated the design quality of an artist. This latest initiative of Rang Rage has completely transformed the atmosphere of the workshops and given a new challenge to the artists.
